Today’s piece was inspired by one of you guys. Two articles on fintech that I recently produced discuss the best paying positions in the industry as well as what fintech actually is. Whether you work in finance or not, many of you contacted me and asked for suggestions on the best courses to enroll in or simply how to move from a non-fintech position into one that does.
I completed the research for you as a result. I’ll share with you today some of the top online programs from renowned universities like Harvard and Wharton that will significantly improve your fintech skills. These courses can help you acquire the job you want in fintech, better your resume, or just make the switch from traditional finance to fintech.
Three Factors to Consider When Choosing a Course:
- Course Fit: You must enroll in a course that perfectly matches your needs. Whether you’re a graduate, a data scientist, a developer, or a manager, you need to choose the course that will be the most useful for your specific needs.
- Value for Money: Because there are so many courses available, you want to get the most for your money and effort. Choose a program that, when included on your résumé or LinkedIn page, everyone will instantly recognize as having a good reputation.
- Time Commitment: You need something that won’t take a long time to complete. Choose a course that you can finish in a weekend, a few weeks, or at most a few months so that you can use the information right away.
Foundations and Applications of Fintech
Okay, let’s get going. One of the best course titles you might have on your resume is the first one on the list, Wharton’s Fintech Foundations and Applications. The emphasis of the course is on both the foundational concepts and practical applications of fintech. It contains four separate courses:
- General Information, Payments, and Regulation
- Introduction to Digital Currencies: Cryptocurrency and Blockchain
- Lending, Crowdfunding, and Modern Investing: Application of AI, InsureTech, and Real Estate Technology
At $79 a month, this training is shockingly inexpensive. About 30 hours are needed to finish it. Once finished, a certificate is given to you, which you may proudly show on your résumé or LinkedIn page.
Financial Services are Transforming with Technology
The Copenhagen Business School’s Digital Transformation in Financial Services is the next course I want to take. In terms of financial transactions made through digital channels, Scandinavia leads all other nations. It is a pioneer in both digital transformation and finance. The digital transformation of the established financial sector is the main topic of this course. It’s fantastic for those presently employed in the finance industry who need to project credibility while addressing or directing the shift to the fintech era.
The course spends a large amount of time developing digital and fintech strategies. The nicest aspect is that it is free and takes roughly 40 hours to finish. It’s a fantastic course from a recognized college that improves your fintech experience, and you also get a degree at the end.
Bitcoin Foundations
Blockchain Fundamentals from UC Berkeley, another outstanding university, is the third course on my list. The application of blockchain at the enterprise level and an understanding of its scalability issues are the main topics of this course. It is split into two separate sub-courses:
- Bitcoin and other digital money
- Technology behind blockchain
This course costs $178 and takes 40 to 50 hours to finish. It’s a terrific deal when you take into account the value you receive and the institution’s reputation.
Artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies
The University of Hong Kong’s course on cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence is the fourth course on the list. While blockchain is a key element, this course also digs into understanding the technical, cryptographic, regtech, and security components of blockchain technology. It is available through the Harvard and MIT-founded edX platform and requires between 40 and 70 hours to finish. At $540, this course is a great value given the university and its content.
Machine Intelligence
The fifth course is an artificial intelligence course from Udacity. Professionals such as bankers, private equity specialists, and hedge fund managers are the target audience for this course. It isn’t centered on coding but rather on assisting you in becoming a company leader in AI transformation. If you can convince your employer to support the $1600 course, all the better. It takes four to eight weeks to finish.
Fintech Policy and Law
The sixth course is the Duke University course on Fintech Law and Policy. With an emphasis on the legal guidelines and problems related to peer-to-peer lending, innovative payment systems, wealth management technology, cryptocurrency, and initial coin offerings, this course is special and useful. Given that it only requires nine hours to complete, it is a substantial bundle that can be finished over the course of a weekend. It’s free, which is the best part.
In closing, I want to underline how the epidemic has given us a chance to reconsider our career choices. There is a talent gap in the fintech sector, which is expanding. These courses can be finished in a few weeks or months and are also reasonably priced. They can really assist you in changing your professional path to focus on fintech.
